What You’ll Do - Job Description

As our FOH Manager, you’ll help make Banter a place where both guests and staff feel cared for. You’ll split your time between scooping on the floor and leading behind the scenes—building staff schedules, coordinating shop inventory, supporting the team, keeping customers happy and making sure the shop looks and feels amazing.


Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Leadership & Team Support

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with your team (up to 20 scoopers)

  • Support staff with regular check-ins and feedback

  • Hire and train new team members

  • Set the tone for service & teamwork

  • Celebrate wins, give coaching when needed, and foster a positive, accountable culture


Operations & Shop Care

  • Create and manage the weekly FOH staff schedule based on forecasting

  • Manage FOH inventory and supplies

  • Keep the shop clean, organized, and visually on point (including our beloved plants!)

  • Coordinate Flavour Launches and in-store signage

  • Help plan team meetings, events and celebrations


Admin & Communication

  • Upload receipts, edit timesheets, and support tip distribution

  • Organize onboarding docs and keep staff files up to date

  • Submit weekly bank deposits and other administrative tasks

  • Use tools like Google Drive, Agendrix, Dext, and Basecamp

  • Attend weekly meetings with our General Manager and contribute to our shared leadership table


Who You Are

You don’t need years of management experience—but you do need the people and critical thinking skills that good managers are built from. 


You’re someone who:

  • Has experience in customer-facing roles (hospitality, retail, food service, etc.)

  • Has led a shift, team, or project before—even informally

  • Loves working with people and knows how to bring out the best in others

  • Thinks on your feet and can calmly & positively tackle issues as they arise

  • Wants to be part of something meaningful, community-connected, and joyful

  • Is organized and dependable, with an eye for detail and a get-it-done mindset

  • Has curiosity and the motivation to grow in knowledge, leadership & problem solving


Availability & Compensation

  • This is a full-time (30-40h) position - especially in the summer! 

The ideal candidate would be available full-time through the winter as well, but scheduling is flexible from October-April and we are open to interviewing applicants with part-time availability during this season.

  • Must be available some evenings and at least 1 weekend day per week.

  • Starting wage is $22/hour + tips, however, experience will be taken into consideration when sending a Job Offer for this role.

We are looking to fill this role by the end of July with training to start ASAP. Training for the position will include working alongside our current FOH Manager before she steps into her next chapter!
